Do you enjoy audiobooks and podcasts during vacations as I do? I listened to “Call me by your name” audiobook after I finished watching the movie and I loved it. Books and vacations make a great combo. Check out Amazon Audible.
If you are more of a book person, here are some recommendations on ‘The French Riviera’ travel books.

Saint Raphael
We did a quick stop by Saint Raphael because it was located close to one of our favorite beach, Esclamandes. We visited this beach last year too and plan to visit it every year. I highly recommend it. The view is beautiful and the people are respectful. In the resort city, Saint Raphael, we visited the old port and strolled around the street in Prom. Commandant Guilbaud. If you visit the city during summer, do not miss the night markets. It’s definitely worth checking out local arts and goodies. Also, don’t be surprised by the numerous ice cream stores in the promenade. Who doesn’t love ice-cream!
Menton
Menton is located on the border of Italy. Don’t be surprised if you meet people who only speaks Italian and not a word of French. Take it as an opportunity to enjoy this mixed culture and eat pasta, cheese and enjoy Italian vibes in the South of France. This place is mainly known for lemons. Make sure to try their Tarte au citron and checkout other goodies like soaps made out of lemons in Rue Saint Michel. This street is filled with beautiful stores and good restaurants. The main must-visits of Menton is the Old Town where you can find the market hall ‘Marché des Halles’, Basilique Saint Michel, Rue Saint Michel, the old port and the old chateau cemetery. I think among all the old towns in the Mediterranean that I have visited, the old town in Menton is my favorite. The bright colors of the buildings, a mixture of French and Italian food, people, culture and the lemon make a perfect combo. It’s worth visiting the town and spending a day or two. BTW, the beaches in this city have pebbles. So, it’s up to you if you want to chill on the pebble beach or drive for 30 minutes to other cities like Cannes and relax on a sandy beach.
I spent 4 days in Nice with my sister in July 2019. The pebble beach is lovely.
Thank you for your beautiful comment! Yes, I love the pebble beach too but prefer sand beach more. I was in Nice in August 2019. I guess we missed each other by some days.
